About Riva's Shotokan Karate-Do and Martial Arts School

Teaching Japanese Karate-Do

Riva’s Shotokan Karate-Do and Martial Arts School teaches Japanese Karate specializing in Shotokan Karate. We are the only traditional family friendly dojo with karate classes for children, youth, and adults in the South Hills of Pittsburgh.

Riva’s Shotokan Karate-Do started at the Upper St. Clair Community Center teaching traditional karate to ages 5–13. In 2015,  Riva’s instructor was planning on closing his dojo. Riva decided to take the opportunity to open the dojo under Riva’s Shotokan Karate-Do so that the students could continue their traditional martial arts schooling.

Riva has been training in traditional karate for 46 years, teaching for at least 42 of those years. She has been  responsible for the youth program and was her Sensei’s backup. Learn more about Sensei Riva.

Riva’s Shotokan Karate-Do and Martial Arts School will continue to promote traditional Japanese Shotokan Karate-Do.
